Fish Market

The fish market is a very important part of the market in a town or village of Bangladesh. It attracts a large number of customers every day. In it fish sellers take their seats in rows. Generally, there is platform on which the fish sellers sit with their big baskets full of fishes. The customers talk & haggle with them over the prices of fish. The fish sellers take their fishes in small quantities out of their baskets & arrange them for sale. The best fishes generally attract large crowds of customers. The poor people are content to move by the sellers who keep small fishes for sale at comparatively low prices. The fish sellers are very clever people. They generally demand more than double the prices they would ultimately accept for their fishes. Thus the unwary customers are cheated off & on by the fish sellers. Village Market

A village market is a place where villagers meet to buy & sell things. It is a useful buying & selling center for the villagers. It generally sit at an open place on the outskirt of a village by the side of a river or a canal or a road. There are two kinds of village markets. Many of them sit once or twice a week. These are called hats. Again, big & rich villages have daily bazaars. Hats usually sit in the evening while bazaars sit in the morning & continue till mid-day. There are permanent & temporary shops in a village market. On the market day many shops sit outside under the open sky. Rice, vegetables, fish, poultry & homemade things are bought & sold in the market. Fist & betel leaves have the largest sale. A village market is the meeting place of the villagers. Day Laborer

A day laborer is a person who does heavy unskilled work & gets his wages at the end of the day. He renders manual labor & so has to be healthy, strong & stout. A day laborer is usually employed in agricultural fields or construction work. He works there from dawn to dusk. If he can get any work to do, he gets money to feed the mouths dependent on him. If he fails to do any work, he has to remain unfed with the members of his family. During the sowing & harvesting season he has in great demand. Since he has many children, they often suffer from various diseases & malnutrition. We should have soft feeling for them & do whatever we can to raise their standard of living.

Winter Morning

A winter morning is misty & cold. There is dense fog everywhere. Sometimes the fog is so dense that the sun rays can’t get through it. Even things at a little distance can hardly be seen. Bird’s chipping is not heard. The cow & other animals can’t come out. But it is not so in every morning. Dew drops fall on leaves & blades of grass at night. They look like glittering pears when the rays of the morning sun fall on them. Village children & people have hardly warm cloths. They gather straw & dry leaves to make fire to warm themselves. The old & the poor busk in the sun in order to warm themselves. People in general & children get up late. So everyone is busy to taking breakfast, dressing & getting ready for going to their respective places. In a winter morning one can enjoy delicious & sweet cakes & many other things. Stormy Night

A stormy night is really dreamful & horrible. It occurs specially in the Bengali month of Chaitra & Baishakh. In a stormy night the sky is overcast with clouds. The wind blows violently from all directions. Sometimes there is lightning occasionally thunders roar. People shudder in fear. Nature looks very gloomy. There is terrible sound all around. Roofs of houses are blown away. Trees are uprooted. It causes a great loss of life & property. People can’t sleep. They utter the name of Allah & recite many lines of the holy Quran. The people of other religion also remember the name of God. However a stormy night is a night of horror & destruction.

Rickshaw Puller

The man who pulls rickshaw for money is a rickshaw puller. A rickshaw puller is a quite familiar in cities & towns. He lives in a slum. His dress is very shabby. His income is very poor. He supports his family through much hardship. He has no rickshaw of his own. He toils hard. In all weather good & bad he is seen carrying passengers. He bargains with his passengers. He demands more when the weather is very hot or foul. Sometimes he tries to cheat passengers. But most often he is cheated by passengers. A rickshaw puller is seen sleeping on his rickshaw beneath a tree or sitting idly on his rickshaw. Through he drives rickshaw from morning till late night, he leads a very miserable life. His life is full of sorrows & sufferings. He can’t enjoy peace & happiness. If he becomes sick, he can’t drive his rickshaw & earn money. So he & his family starve. If he can earn more than his expectation, his face smiles. But this opportunity is very rare in his life. 

Water Pollution

Harmful contamination of anything is called pollution. Water pollution means contamination of surface & drinking water that make the water harmful to use. Men pollute water by discarding into it domestic & industrial wastes, human waste & filth, poisonous chemical & corrosives. Mills & factories throw their chemical wastes into rivers & canals & pollute water. Farmers use pesticides & chemical fertilizers which are washed out by the rain & flood & pollute the water. Leaking of oil from water vehicles, dead bodies & rotten debris of animal & plants, germs of diseases & insanitary latrines are other factors that pollute water. Through proper management of wasters we can minimize water pollution. People should also be made aware of the ways & means to keep water pure & clean & not polluted.

Village Doctor

A village doctor is a physician who has seen in the village & gives proper medical treatment among the rural people when they have to face ill. He is a popular figure among the villagers. He is not a highly qualified doctor. He is a quack. His career starts by working with a famous doctor or in a dispensary. He can identify common diseases of people & get proper treatment of that. He has a dispensary with a self for medicine, a chair for himself, a table & two or three benches for the patients. He sits in the dispensary, examines the patients & give medicines for their better cure. He takes at a low price of medicine from the patients. Sometimes, he goes to the house of patients on foot. In absence of ant qualified doctor, a village doctor is seen as a vital character to the villagers. He is a welcome guest for the rural people as he gives a good response at any times to their call.

Liberation War of Bangladesh

Our liberation is the greatest achievement in our national life. We had been under Pakistani rule for twenty five years. But the discrimination, oppression & suppression of the West Pakistani rulers lead us to wag the Liberation War. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman led the struggle for freedom. But soon he was arrested by the Pakistani rulers. However, people from all walks of life took part in the war responding to the call & order of Bangabandhu. Colonel M.A.G. Osmani was the Commander in chief of that war. We protested all kinds of wrong doing committed by the Pak rulers. It symbolizes a great protest against wrong doing. A nation cannot make progress without being independent. Colonial rulers never want the real progress of the subjugated people. In order to fulfill the five basic needs of the citizens of a country & lead them to the way of development, a nation must be independent.

True Education

Education means to develop one’s mind through formal learning in different institutions. It helps to develop a person mentally & intellectually. It helps one to meet challenges. The meaning of true education is still greater. The aim of true education is to enlighten the individual. It is not only confined to academic institutions. Social service is a part of true education. A truly educated man not only does something for himself but also for others. Our family & society help us in many ways to flourish our latent talent & to become a worthy man. Academic knowledge refines man properly & is important for broad thinking. Travelling is also a part of true education. My academic knowledge is supplemented by social service & study tours. True education enables one to make the right choices so that one can go ahead. It also gives a man clear conscious view of his own opinions & judgments. Traffic Jam

Traffic jam means long line of vehicles which cannot move or move slowly. It’s a common affair in big cities & towns. It’s a great problem in our life. The causes of traffic jam are many. Over population, unlicensed vehicles, overtaking tendency, parking of vehicles here & there, lack of traffic law & street accident are responsible for traffic jam. Traffic jam causes a great harm to our life. It kills our valuable time. It hampers our work. Students, office-goers & other people cannot reach their destination in proper time. As a result they suffer much. However, this problem can be solved by taking proper step. Well-planned spacious roads should be constructed. Traffic rules should be imposed strictly. Sufficient Traffic police should be posted on important points. Unlicensed vehicles should be removed. A good traffic system can be possible by doing all these things. After all, for our easy & comfortable movement a good traffic system is utmost needed.

Mobile phone is one of the wonderful wonders of modern science. It has added a new dimension to our life & to communication system. It is a telephone system that works without any wire. It can move easily & quickly from place to place. Through mobile phone, we can send manages to distance places, play games & sports, know about the time, solve the work of calculation, be aware of different kinds of news & views. At present the popularity of mobile phone is increasing. Many companies are also being set up for selling mobile phone. The price of mobile phone is also decreasing in comparison with the past people are being encouraged to buy a mobile phone. In a very single moment we can communicate with the people living in a very distance place. With its advantages, the mobile phone has some draw backs in disguise. Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa is a dedicated soul like sister Nivedita. Both of them were originally foreigners but made this country their home. Teresa was born in 1910 at scope, a small village in Yugoslavia . Her earlier name was Agnes. At eighteen she dedicated to become a nun & so she come to India in 1928 & thereby she became an Indian citizen. Thus though she was Albanian by chance she became an Indian by choice. She started her life in Calcutta as a teacher in a convent school, but soon the mother in her cried for the suffering of the poor & the downtrodden. Her Nirmal Hriday al kalighat became the shelter of the sufferers. Her activities have now been spread all over the world. In 1979 she was awarded the Nobel prize for peace. She was awarded, Bharat Ratna Award for the year 1980. E-Mail

Electronic mail popularly known as e-mail is the communication of textual message via electronic means. In this system  personal computer, a modem & a telephone connection are necessary. It requires an e-mail account number. E-mail is delivered to individual electronic mail boxes based in computers. Messages can be transmitted from one country to another within seconds. It is far cheaper than telephone calls. Privacy is ensured as the e-mail is delivered to an individual’s mail box which can be accessed or opened by the consumption of paper in the office. Nowadays trade & commerce have become greatly depended on this speedy mode of communication. E-mail gives us an opportunity to face the international arena. It establishes almost instantaneous communication to any part of the world & maintains wide information network with remote areas of the globe.
