The first day of Bangla New Year is called Pahela Baishakh. In keeping with the age-old tradition we celebrate the day with traditional festivities. The day's first program begins at Ramna Batamul organised by a leading cultural organisation 'Chnayanat.' To observe the day rural people arrange traditional games, dramas & cultural functions throughout the country. Shopkeepers open 'Halkhata' & urban people observe it in a befitting manner. Wearing traditional dresses they attend the cultural functions arranged by various social-cultural organisations. People bring out colorful procession carrying festoons, placards, posters, banners & wearing masks. As a special day for the Bangladeshis the significance of the day is very great.
