The grading system has of late been introduced in the SSC & HSC Examinations in place of the age old marking system. According to the old system the candidates were declared to have passed or failed in the examination & the successful students were placed in the first, second & third division according to the percentage of marks obtained by them. And they were declared to have secured the first, second, third place & son on according to the total marks. The unsuccessful candidates were required to take the whole exam again even if they failed in one subject only. But in the grading system the candidates are placed in A+, A, A-, B, C, D & F grade in each subject & there is no first, second or first place. Candidates failed in one or more subjects have to take the exam in these subjects only in the next year.
