Advertisement

Advertisement attract people’s attention & make them buy the advertised product. Advertisements are an indispensable part in the process of marketing a product. The people are induced to buy a product when they are aware of the quality or  usefulness of the article. And advertisement dose this function effectively. The advertising firms prepare advertisements on payment & supply them to the people who want to advertise their products. The negative aspect of advertisement is that sometimes the buyers are misled and cheated by it & the cost of advertisement is added to the product.

Physical Exercise

Physical exercise means the regular movement of the limbs of our body according to rules. It is essential to keep our body fit & mind sound. There lies a close connection between body & mind. We can not think of a sound mind without a sound health. It is physical exercise which enables us to build a good health. Physical exercise makes our body active & the muscles strong. It also improve our power of digestion and blood circulation. It gives strength to our brain. A machine gets rust for want of proper use. Human body is also a machine. It becomes inactive & weak for want of exercise. So we should take regular physical exercise in order to maintain a sound health and lead a happy life.

Sunset Scene

A sunset scene is a splendid scene. The mellow sun going down over the western horizon looks like a golden disc. Trees & plants, crops & creepers-everything is lip up with a golden glow. The pieces of floating clouds look like a stretch of fire. As the sun reflects through the rivers, canals and ponds they seem to enshrine in their bosoms a golden ball with outstretched luster of liquid fire. Then gradually the sun sinks below across the hazy trees at the distant horizon. The night falls with a pall of darkness. The sun sets for the night and leaves the world under the reign of darkness to rule the roost.

Tea

Tea is a kind of dried leaves which is got from tea plants. It is a popular drink. It grows in China , India , Japan , Indonesia , Ceylon & Bangladesh . It grows on the dry slopes of hills. It grows on hilly areas where water does not stay. Tea plant grows twenty to thirty feet high. They are not allowed to grow so high in the garden. They are prune & allowed to grow from three to four feet high. There are four crops in a year. The leaves & buds are rolled over by a machine & dried in the sun & air. Black tea is got by drying slowly & green tea is got by drying quickly. The dried leaves are packed & are ready for sale. It is easy to prepare tea as a drink. Water is first boiled in a kettle. Then a quantity of dried leaves are put in it. Milk & sugar may be mixed with it. Tea is refreshing & stimulating. It removes fatigue. It’s an antidote to cancer. Tea is one of the cash crops of Bangladesh . We earn a lot of foreign currency by exporting it.

Tea Stall

A tea stall is a small shop. Tea is mainly served here to people. A tea stall is a common sight in the town & village markets. We may find it in the street sides, at the bus, the lunch & the railway stations, in the front of an office, by the side of a cinema hall. A few benches or chairs with tables are placed in a tea-stall. The customers sit here for taking tea & light refreshment. It is frequented by the weary passers-by, the tired official assistants, the fatigued laborers  the exhausted rickshaw pullers as well as the students & political workers. While taking tea they go o gossiping in groups on any kind of subject & it is called a mini Sangsad. It is, in fact, a pleasure resort of people of all age groups & of all walks of life. It opens early in the morning & closes late at night. People of various classes & tastes gather here.  As a result, it is usually a busy place where people can share their weal & woe.

Rainy Day

The day when it rains all day long is called a rainy day. Such a day in seen in our country generally in the rainy season. On a rainy day the sky is covered with black clouds. The sun is not seen. The weather is rough. It looks gloomy all around. When it rains called cats and dogs. River, tanks, wells, canals etc. are filled with water to the brim. The road becomes muddy and slippers. No man can go out without umbrella. Passers-by walk along with shoes in hand and clothes folded up. They have the risk of a foot-slip. Schools do not sit and the students enjoy an unexpected holiday at home. On a rainy day the poor and the day laborer of our country suffer much. They can’t go out of their house in search of work. Often they pass a rainy day in starvation. The domestic animals keep standing in their sheds. A rainy day is an important day for poets, authors and intellectual persons. Grameen Bank

Grameen means pertaining to the villagers or rural areas. So Grameen Bank is the financial institution that works for the poor rural people in Bangladesh. This conception was introduced by Dr. Muhammad Yonus, Professor of Economics at Chittagong University in Bangladesh. He understood that the country could never proper without improving the lot of the rural people who form the vast majority of our population. So he came up with the idea of micro-credit & established. Grameen Bank only the poor & landless people are eligible for getting loans from the Bank. There are some procedures of getting the loan. Before getting the loan, people have to make 5-6 groups of workers each having 5 members. The members should be disciplined. Basically the group Chairperson is responsible for disciplinary activities. The borrows are given advice to make the best use of money. People can repay the interest & the borrowed money from their profits. The bank has brought a revolutionary change

School Magazine

A school magazine is generally a literary journal of the school. It is generally published annually or bi-annually. It is considered a training medium of literary writings by the young writers. It usually contains stories, poems, jokes, essays etc. The topics for the magazine are selected by the chief editor who gives direction to the students to write properly. Among the writings the authorities in charge select the writings to publish. They gives priority for the creative writing. The school magazine plays an important role in helping the students to express their feelings & thoughts. It is also helpful for the teachers to know the inner strength of their student. To speak the truths the school magazine is the perfect platform for the future writers. This literary magazine acts as a link between the ex-students & the present students of a school.

Book Fair

A book fair is a special kind of fair where various kind of books are displayed & sold. It gives an opportunity to buy books at a cheap rate. Recently I visited a book fair at Bangla Academy premises. Actually it is an annual function & Bangla Academy authorities observe the fair in memory of the language martyrs. It is termed as “Amor Ekushey Boi Mela.” Whenever I entered the Mela Premises, I was really pleased at the calm & quiet environment. Though it was burdened with people, there was no chaotic situation, I saw book lovers humming in the stalls without any trough. According to my list I collected some valuable books without any hazard. The decoration of the premises also pleased me very much. I was really fortunate as I met some eminent writers of our country & I took autograph from them. Actually, I was really pleased at the fair & I hope it will uphold our culture in the arena of world literature.

Railway Station

A railway station is a place where trains stop at and depart from. Unlike a bus stand it usually covers a very big area. A railway station has a platform. However a big railway station has a number of platforms & is always crowd.  It has some room, namely the station master’s room, waiting rooms, restaurants etc. There are also book-stalls & tea-stalls in a railway stations. Hawkers can be seen selling hot-tea, magazine, cigarettes, bananas, oranges etc. They become very busy when a train arrives to sells their things. A railway station becomes very lively when a train arrives. Some passengers hurry to get off the train while some other who are waiting for the train want to get in. As a result, a collision of two groups of passengers often take place. Sometimes it requires some kinds of gymnastic skills to get into the train. Bus Stand

Commonly a bus stand is a place where buses stop & start from. Generally, it stands at the outskirts of a town or city. It carries a great value for the passengers of long drive. It is quite a crowded place. In the maximum bus stand there is a waiting room for the passengers. Passengers don’t have to wait for long time for the buses. Passengers gather at the bus stand to get into the bus when it comes. It is visible that both passengers & coolies are equally busy at the stand. Some passengers wait for buses for a while & go into the tea stall for drinking a cup of tea. Most of buses can’t come to the station in time because of jam. It is sometimes seen that buses are overcrowded then the environment inside the buses is suffocating. However, a bus stand is a temporary shelter for passengers. On some bus stands there are counters for booking ticket. Passengers stand in a line for buying tickets. Sometimes some ill-tempered passengers break the line & quarrel among thems

Street Beggar

A street beggar is a person who begs to keep body & soul together. In our country (Bangladesh) a street beggar is a common figure. He is found here, there & everywhere on the street. Specially, a street beggar is seen at the joint of two or more roads. He begs for money from the passers-by. He is a poor person who has a miserable look in his eyes. He puts on dirty & torn cloths with patches here & there. Sometimes he is found without any shirt. His hair is un-brushed & without oil. So the hair above his head looks like the nest of a sparrow. A street beggar may be able-bodied, blind, lame & crippled. He has a begging bowl or bag in his hand. When a passer-by walks past him he stretches his begging bowl with a piteous appeal to give him alms. He utters blessing to the person who gives him alms. The life of a street beggar is very hard. Pastimes

Pastime is the sweetest moments when a man has no work to do, when he is his own master & can arrange his work at his own will. Village people spend their pastime by flying kites, fishing, swimming, gossiping & by engaging themselves in productive work such as gardening, farming etc. City people spend their pastime by playing, visiting different historical places, enjoying shows & exhibitions, going out for a picnic, reading books, watching TV & using computers. The common sports are football, cricket, chess etc. The common pastimes are gossiping, reading news papers & watching TV programs. In late winter people enjoy various kinds of games like badminton, volley-ball etc. Sometimes winter fair is observed in the villages. I think travelling is an expensive kind of pastime although it increases one’s knowledge & gives one some enjoyment of refreshing one’s mind through watching many different places.

Street Hawker

A street hawker is a common sight in the streets of big cities & towns. A hawker sells his goods with interesting cries in order to draw the attention of his customers. He knows the art of convincing. Women & child are usually attracted by his calls. He generally offers toys, fruits, biscuits, vegetables, ice-cream, cakes, laces, cloths, utensils etc. On the contrary, there are other kinds of hawkers who buy newspaper, blank pots, old books, worn out cloths from the houses. However, children are fond of a hawker but men do not like him. By carrying the goods for sale in his hands or over his shoulders, he moves from door to door. Sometimes he goes from one street to another with his moving shop & he often causes problems on the foot-path. A street hawker’s income is not sufficient, so he has to maintain his family through hardship.

Eid Day

Eid-ul-fitr, the biggest religious festivals of the Muslims comes marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. To the pious Muslims the Eid day is the media of self-judgment & purification. In this month all wrong, inhuman & harmful acts are strictly prohibited. Eid, in fact, awakens in us the spirit that stimulates us in giving a concrete shape to our worldly & spiritual life. The common scene an Eid day is exchanging greetings after prayer, visiting family members, friends & neighbors. Children wear new dresses on this day & eat good food. The poor families should be helped on this day. On this occasion, We should pledge to establish an exploitation free society on the basis of religious values, on this day, we forgot all discrimination & join together to make merriment & joy. This now we observe the Eid.

Fountain Pen

Pen is an essential article of the educated man of all ages, Students & educated man can’t do a single moment without a fountain pen. It has earned much popularity. It has two parts the main body & the cap. The main body holds the nib. It is hollow inside & holds ink in his hollow body. Again there is a rubber tube contains ink. The cap has a nib attached to its end. It protects the nib from being damaged. The cap is screwed with the main body. It is with help of the clip that one holds a fountain pen on the edge of his pocket. The fountain pens are of different colors, shapes & sizes.

The Importance of Learning English

The importance of English is recognized throughout the world. English is an international language. Most of the advanced books for higher studies are written in English. All the international communication is made through English. So, it is a must for us to learn English. Many business firm want people who have a good command over English. So, by learning English we can got the opportunities of employment & better salaries. Now English has got the status of the global language. English is spoken throughout the entire language. If any nation does not learn English, it will lag behind in all respects. But learning English requires regular & pain-staking practice. The learners need advanced books on English. Only the good teachers can teach English. So with the help of good teachers along with a suitable syllabus, the learning of English can be improved.

The Victory Day

Bangladesh is not a very aged country though in this short span of time many significant events took place in the history of it. The 16 th December is a rare day in life history of Bangladesh. On this day we gained triumph at the cost of a blood stained war & Bangladesh came into being. We commemorate the sacrifice of the brave sons who died for the country & pay gleaming acclaim to their deceased soul. The day begins with gunshot; the whole country wears a festive look. The national flag is not sated on the top of each house. Many meetings seminars, symposiums & discussion are held people of all works of life go to national Mausoleum & offer flowers there as a symbol of profound homage to the martyred valiant fighters. This day is a day of great joy, hope & inspiration. This victory symbolisms victory against inequity, oppression & falsehood. This day will remain ever fresh & evergreen in the heart of each & every Bangladeshi.

Railway Porter

Railway porter is a person who carries goods in a railway station. A railway porter is quite known figure in the railway station. He wears on his arm a brass plate given to him by the railway authority. The brass plate bears his number. He is swift in his movement. He is strong & stout. He is able to carry heavy loads. He carries luggage. He loads & unloads the goods train. A railway porter is very clever. He can easily exploit the passengers. When a passengers falls into trouble & becomes helpless for his heavy luggage, a porter demand a higher charge. He is ill-tempered & quarrelsome. He likes a bargain with the passengers for his charge. If any passenger brings charges against him of his misbehavior, the passenger is sure to be harassed by the porter & his associates. The income of a railway porter is very low. Yet he renders a great service to people.
