Fish Market

The fish market is a very important part of the market in a town or village of Bangladesh. It attracts a large number of customers every day. In it fish sellers take their seats in rows. Generally, there is platform on which the fish sellers sit with their big baskets full of fishes. The customers talk & haggle with them over the prices of fish. The fish sellers take their fishes in small quantities out of their baskets & arrange them for sale. The best fishes generally attract large crowds of customers. The poor people are content to move by the sellers who keep small fishes for sale at comparatively low prices. The fish sellers are very clever people. They generally demand more than double the prices they would ultimately accept for their fishes. Thus the unwary customers are cheated off & on by the fish sellers. Village Market

A village market is a place where villagers meet to buy & sell things. It is a useful buying & selling center for the villagers. It generally sit at an open place on the outskirt of a village by the side of a river or a canal or a road. There are two kinds of village markets. Many of them sit once or twice a week. These are called hats. Again, big & rich villages have daily bazaars. Hats usually sit in the evening while bazaars sit in the morning & continue till mid-day. There are permanent & temporary shops in a village market. On the market day many shops sit outside under the open sky. Rice, vegetables, fish, poultry & homemade things are bought & sold in the market. Fist & betel leaves have the largest sale. A village market is the meeting place of the villagers. Day Laborer

A day laborer is a person who does heavy unskilled work & gets his wages at the end of the day. He renders manual labor & so has to be healthy, strong & stout. A day laborer is usually employed in agricultural fields or construction work. He works there from dawn to dusk. If he can get any work to do, he gets money to feed the mouths dependent on him. If he fails to do any work, he has to remain unfed with the members of his family. During the sowing & harvesting season he has in great demand. Since he has many children, they often suffer from various diseases & malnutrition. We should have soft feeling for them & do whatever we can to raise their standard of living.

Winter Morning

A winter morning is misty & cold. There is dense fog everywhere. Sometimes the fog is so dense that the sun rays can’t get through it. Even things at a little distance can hardly be seen. Bird’s chipping is not heard. The cow & other animals can’t come out. But it is not so in every morning. Dew drops fall on leaves & blades of grass at night. They look like glittering pears when the rays of the morning sun fall on them. Village children & people have hardly warm cloths. They gather straw & dry leaves to make fire to warm themselves. The old & the poor busk in the sun in order to warm themselves. People in general & children get up late. So everyone is busy to taking breakfast, dressing & getting ready for going to their respective places. In a winter morning one can enjoy delicious & sweet cakes & many other things. Stormy Night

A stormy night is really dreamful & horrible. It occurs specially in the Bengali month of Chaitra & Baishakh. In a stormy night the sky is overcast with clouds. The wind blows violently from all directions. Sometimes there is lightning occasionally thunders roar. People shudder in fear. Nature looks very gloomy. There is terrible sound all around. Roofs of houses are blown away. Trees are uprooted. It causes a great loss of life & property. People can’t sleep. They utter the name of Allah & recite many lines of the holy Quran. The people of other religion also remember the name of God. However a stormy night is a night of horror & destruction.

Rickshaw Puller

The man who pulls rickshaw for money is a rickshaw puller. A rickshaw puller is a quite familiar in cities & towns. He lives in a slum. His dress is very shabby. His income is very poor. He supports his family through much hardship. He has no rickshaw of his own. He toils hard. In all weather good & bad he is seen carrying passengers. He bargains with his passengers. He demands more when the weather is very hot or foul. Sometimes he tries to cheat passengers. But most often he is cheated by passengers. A rickshaw puller is seen sleeping on his rickshaw beneath a tree or sitting idly on his rickshaw. Through he drives rickshaw from morning till late night, he leads a very miserable life. His life is full of sorrows & sufferings. He can’t enjoy peace & happiness. If he becomes sick, he can’t drive his rickshaw & earn money. So he & his family starve. If he can earn more than his expectation, his face smiles. But this opportunity is very rare in his life. 

Water Pollution

Harmful contamination of anything is called pollution. Water pollution means contamination of surface & drinking water that make the water harmful to use. Men pollute water by discarding into it domestic & industrial wastes, human waste & filth, poisonous chemical & corrosives. Mills & factories throw their chemical wastes into rivers & canals & pollute water. Farmers use pesticides & chemical fertilizers which are washed out by the rain & flood & pollute the water. Leaking of oil from water vehicles, dead bodies & rotten debris of animal & plants, germs of diseases & insanitary latrines are other factors that pollute water. Through proper management of wasters we can minimize water pollution. People should also be made aware of the ways & means to keep water pure & clean & not polluted.
